The  whale  shark  is a  filter   feeder  species   ,  that  mainly separates small  organisms known  as plankton  this  can  include larva and  eggs  of  crustaceans  and  fish , also   zoo-plankton   in  our  area  mainly   copepods  and  some times  small  anchovies  and other  fish   fry .

The  calm nutrient  rich  waters  of  Bahia de los Angeles create  a  rich  attractive   environment for  the   whale  sharks  that  year  after  year return  for a 6 month   season  of  feeding

In Bahia de los Anglees  this  seasonal aggregation  starts  in  June  and  ends  in November!

During  this season  it is  very common to  see the whale shark feeding   near  the  surface,
where it can  spend  as much  as  6 hs  per day ,  providing   for  a great   opportunity  to  observe and  swim  with  this  creature  in  its  own  environment .

Generally  speaking  90 % of the  sightings  happen  near  the  south  shore  of the  bay in  depths  under  20 meters .

The majority  of the  whale  sharks  that  can be observed  at the bay  are   believed  to be  juveniles  with  sizes  between  13 ft and 21  ft , but  some  large  possibly  mature  individuals  can be also  observed  up to  36 ft.

.
They are  totally inoffensive  to  humans  if  a  few  conduct  codes are   observed ,  the  shark   will  remain  indifferent  or  even  curios towards   humans .
